This independently owned, first-opinion small animal practice on the Suffolk coast is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join its established and highly organised team.
Opened in 2020 and RCVS GP-accredited since 2021, the practice has quickly built a reputation for high clinical standards, efficiency, and a calm, well-managed working environment. This is a day-only practice (8am-6pm), with out-of-hours fully outsourced, ensuring predictable working hours and excellent continuity of care.
This is a single-site, purpose-designed, fully air-conditioned premises with:
  • 3 consultation rooms (option for a fourth)
  • Spacious prep area
  • 3 theatres (2 sterile + dedicated dental suite with dental radiography)
  • DR radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy and CT
  • Full in-house laboratory (biochemistry, haematology, hormones)
  • Regular visiting peripatetic surgeon (advanced soft tissue and orthopaedics)
The caseload is 100% companion animal (approx. 75% dogs, 24% cats). Clients are largely established, compliant and receptive to clear clinical guidance, allowing thorough work-ups and high standards of care.
The team includes experienced vets with certificate-level expertise, a strong RVN team, and dedicated client care support. Communication is structured and collaborative, with clear systems in place to minimise stress and maximise efficiency.
Consultations are 20 minutes, with protected time for admin and case follow-up. A typical ops day involves 2-4 procedures (occasionally up to 8), including routine surgery, dentistry, soft tissue procedures, lap spays and imaging support (CT performed by trained nurses).
This role would suit a confident GP vet comfortable with routine consults and surgery, who values efficiency, teamwork and high clinical standards.

The Role:
  • Salary: £45,000-£65,000 DOE
  • 40 hours over 4 days + 1 in 4 Saturday mornings
  • Part time (30 hours over 3 days) considered
  • No OOH
  • 5 weeks' leave + bank holidays (pro rata)
  • RCVS and VDS paid
  • Healthshield cash plan & Employee Assistance Programme
  • Private medical insurance
  • £1,500 CPD allowance (with additional investment where mutually beneficial)
  • Modern 4-bedroom accommodation available to support relocation
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a stable, independent practice offering clinical autonomy, advanced facilities, and a structured working day — all within a highly desirable coastal setting.
