This established, independent RCVS-accredited veterinary hospital in Hertfordshire is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join its 12-vet team. This is a progressive, well-equipped hospital environment offering strong clinical mentorship, structured support, and true professional autonomy.
With over 120 years serving the local community, the practice combines long-standing reputation with modern standards and facilities.
This is a large, collaborative team with significant clinical depth. Several vets hold postgraduate certificates (surgery, medicine, ophthalmology, dermatology, CertAVP), alongside Advanced Practitioners in Medicine and Surgery. Additional certificates are currently being pursued, and behavioural expertise is also offered in-house.

The culture is supportive and collegiate, with:
  • Full induction and allocated buddy support
  • Active clinical discussion groups
  • Regular in-house CPD
  • Protected breaks and admin time
  • A focus on clinical outcomes rather than financial targets
The nursing and administrative teams are experienced and highly supportive, contributing to a well-run, low-stress working environment.

The hospital is exceptionally well equipped, including:
  • Digital radiography
  • Rigid and flexible endoscopy
  • Doppler ultrasound
  • 24-hour in-house laboratory
  • Multi-parameter anaesthetic monitoring (with capnography)
  • ASIF equipment and mono/bipolar cautery
  • Operating microscope and slit lamp
  • Fully equipped dental suite (high-speed drill and dental radiography)
  • On-site hydrotherapy and laser therapy
Investment in equipment is ongoing, with responsiveness to clinician needs.

The Role:
  • Salary: £65,000 - £84,000 (DOE) plus bonus
  • Full-time or part-time considered
  • New graduates welcome (registered GDP practice)
  • CPD allowance and 2 additional paid CPD days
  • Certificate funding and support
  • Pension contribution
The full-time on-call rota operates on a 1 in 9 basis, with a rolling 3.5-day week and six extended long weekends per year. Out-of-hours is limited to registered clients only, and separate on-site accommodation is available for overnight stays. Candidates who do not wish to participate in the on-call rota will also be considered.
This role would suit a friendly, enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon seeking strong mentorship, advanced facilities, and the opportunity to develop within an independent hospital committed to high clinical standards and team wellbeing.
