Our client is seeking a veterinary surgeon to join their established and supportive team based in South Yorkshire. This is a permanent role offering a flexible four-day week, with part-time applicants also considered. There are no out-of-hours or bank holiday requirements, and Saturday mornings are shared on a 1 in 8 rota with time off in lieu.
The practice operates across two well-equipped sites, one of which is a hospital setting, both offering excellent consulting, surgical, and diagnostic facilities. The team consists of eight vets with a range of clinical interests, including certificate holders in surgery, medicine, and diagnostic imaging. This collaborative environment ensures clinical support is always available and encourages continuous development.
The role can be shaped around the interests of the successful candidate. Those keen to further their surgical skills will benefit from access to a varied surgical caseload, including cruciate and patella repairs, laparoscopic procedures, and BOAS surgery.
For those with a passion for internal medicine, the practice is well equipped with advanced diagnostics including ultrasound, dental radiography, endoscopy, i-STAT, and Imagyst. Cases are typically worked up in-house, and hospital shifts offer a mix of inpatient care, consulting, and emergency case management.
Applicants who enjoy a bit of everything will also find the rota tailored to individual preferences, providing a well-balanced and varied working week. The practice is VetGDP registered and new or recent graduates are welcome to apply, with full support and mentorship provided.
The salary on offer ranges from £35,000 to £65,000 depending on experience, with higher packages negotiable for those holding additional qualifications. Well-behaved pets are welcome to accompany their owners to work.
Additional benefits include a paid RCVS, VDS and one other membership, generous CPD allowance with funding for certificates, five weeks of holiday (plus the option to buy or sell days), and enhanced provisions for sickness, maternity, paternity, and adoption leave. The package also includes a Healthshield cash plan and access to a cycle-to-work scheme.
This is an excellent opportunity for a veterinary surgeon looking for a clinically diverse, supportive role in a practice that actively encourages professional development and team wellbeing.
