At Vetmatch, we're delighted to be supporting a well-established, progressive practice in South West London as they look to appoint an experienced Head Veterinary Nurse to join their team, with a salary of up to £47,000 depending on experience.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident nurse who enjoys leading from the front while remaining hands-on in a varied and well-equipped clinical environment.
The practice is home to a team of four vets and operates across two floors, offering a diverse caseload that keeps each day interesting.
The ground floor runs as a busy general practice seeing predominantly dogs and a range of exotics, while the first floor is dedicated to a cat-only clinic, reflecting a real commitment to tailored, species-specific care. The clinical space is modern and thoughtfully equipped, including digital radiography, multiparameter monitoring, contemporary anaesthetic equipment and Casco kennels, enabling the nursing team to work to a high clinical standard and fully utilise their skills.
They are seeking a Head Nurse with a minimum of two years' experience in a leadership role, someone who feels confident supporting and guiding a nursing team while maintaining a strong clinical presence.
The right person will be passionate about delivering exceptional patient care and will naturally foster a collaborative, supportive working environment. Strong communication skills are essential, as is the ability to keep the wider team informed and aligned. You'll be someone who can manage multiple demands with composure, adapt when needed, and approach challenges with a practical, solutions-focused mindset.
Equally important is personality and team fit. They are looking for someone kind and compassionate towards pets, owners and colleagues alike, with a positive, good-humoured outlook and a genuine desire to contribute to a healthy, happy workplace culture. Flexibility around working hours and patterns is very much open for discussion, with the team keen to build something sustainable around the right individual.
This is a role where your leadership will be valued and your ideas welcomed. You'll have the opportunity to shape nursing standards, support team development and be part of a practice that combines clinical quality with a warm, community feel. If you're an experienced Head Nurse considering your next move in South West London, we would love to have a confidential conversation and explore whether this could be the right next step for you.
