We are looking for a Head Veterinary Nurse who is ready to take the next step in their career and truly shape the future of a thriving, independent, owner-led practice.
This role is about so much more than managing a rota or overseeing the day-to-day. It's about leading with compassion, championing high standards of patient care, and nurturing a team where every nurse feels valued, heard, and inspired to grow.
You'll be part of the Senior Leadership Team, working closely with the clinical directors to guide both the daily running of the clinics and the long-term direction of the practice. With two bright, modern sites in SW London you'll have the chance to enjoy hands-on clinical nursing, make full use of your Schedule 3 skills, and be part of a forward-thinking environment where curiosity and continuous learning are encouraged.
The facilities speak for themselves—dedicated patient wards, a dental suite with radiography, large prep areas, four consulting rooms and advanced imaging including CT. But what really sets this practice apart is the culture. The team are known for their warmth and inclusivity, regularly coming together for yoga, climbing or simply unwinding at the pub. Birthdays are celebrated with a day off, CPD and leadership training are actively supported, and wellbeing is at the heart of their ethos.
As Head Nurse, you'll set the tone for the nursing team, ensuring they have a voice in the practice and the confidence to use their skills to their fullest. You'll take pride in balancing quality with efficiency, overseeing patient care, and making sure every client leaves feeling reassured and supported. You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to the bigger picture, driving initiatives that strengthen the practice's reputation for clinical excellence and outstanding service.
The rota has been designed with sustainability in mind—a four-day working week, only one weekend in six, a shared bank holiday commitment of around one per year, and no out-of-hours. Salary ranges from £38,000 to £42,000 depending on experience, with additional benefits including a cycle-to-work scheme, CPD support, and the chance to lead within a practice that genuinely values its people.
This is a role for a nurse who wants to make a difference, who is ready to combine hands-on clinical excellence with the responsibility of leadership. If you are passionate about patient care, motivated to support and develop others, and excited about having a real say in the future of a practice, this could be the perfect step for you.
