This growing, purpose-built County Durham small animal practice is looking to recruit an additional Veterinary Surgeon to join its established team. This is an opportunity to work in a busy, modern clinic with a strong focus on delivering high-quality, accessible care.
The practice is part of a growing, independent, family-owned group. It is committed to a Fear Free model, with training and accreditation provided as standard and direct support from experienced owners, providing the opportunity for clinical development and progression. The focus is on delivering high-quality care within a structured, low-stress environment for patients, clients, and the team.
The position offers a balanced caseload with a mix of 15-minute consultations and surgery, along with scheduled admin time built into the day.
You will be working alongside a team of experienced Veterinary Surgeons, 5 Registered Veterinary Nurses and VCAs and dedicated front-of-house care coordinators. The structure supports collaboration across clinical and non-clinical teams.
The role would suit a vet who is confident in general practice, enjoys working as part of a team, and is motivated by providing a positive experience for both patients and clients.

The Role
  • Salary £40,000 - £65,000 (DOE)
  • 4 days per week (08:30 - 19:00) with 1 in 5 Saturday mornings
  • Part-time option available (3 days)
  • No out-of-hours
  • 5 weeks holiday + bank holidays (day in lieu for worked bank holidays)
  • Private medical insurance + Employee Assistance Programme
  • £1,000 CPD allowance with support for further study/certificates
  • Fear Free training and accreditation
  • RCVS & VDS fees paid
  • Workplace pension
  • Paid birthday leave
  • 3 paid charity days per year
  • Staff pet benefits including wellness plans and treatment discounts
  • Quarterly team social budget + annual events
  • Opportunities for international CPD and conference attendance
This is a well-structured GP role within a growing practice, offering a clear balance between clinical work, development, and lifestyle. The Fear Free approach and team structure make it particularly appealing to vets looking for a more considered way of working in practice.
