Are you an experienced veterinary surgeon who thrives in a quieter, more focused environment—where you can truly take ownership of cases and deliver high-quality care without the pressures of a busy daytime clinic?
We're working with a forward-thinking veterinary group launching a brand-new, purpose-built 24-hour hospital in Central London, and they're looking for a dedicated Night Veterinary Surgeon to become a key part of their out-of-hours service.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a state-of-the-art hospital from day one, with the space, equipment, and support to do your best work—and the time to do it properly.
Why this opportunity stands out
This hospital has been designed to reflect what modern veterinary care should look like, with a genuine investment in both clinical excellence and team wellbeing.
Set across three floors and 4,500 sq ft, the hospital offers an exceptional working environment with four consult rooms, two fully equipped operating theatres, a dedicated dental suite, full in-house laboratory, CT scanner and advanced imaging, hydrotherapy and physiotherapy services, and separate dog and cat wards.
You'll have access to high-level equipment including ventilators, advanced anaesthesia machines, uMEC12 monitoring systems, ultrasound, IMV X-ray, and laparoscopic and endoscopy equipment.
This is an environment where night work is not an afterthought—it's a fully supported, well-equipped service where you can practice to a high standard with confidence.
The role
This position would suit a veterinary surgeon with at least two years' UK experience who is confident with routine and emergency presentations and enjoys the autonomy that night work can offer.
You'll take ownership of inpatients and any overnight emergencies, working in a calm, well-supported setting with the tools and facilities to manage cases thoroughly.
The rota is a highly desirable 7 nights on, 14 nights off pattern, offering a strong work-life balance and the opportunity to truly switch off and recharge between rotations.
The ethos and culture
What sets this team apart is how much value they place on their people.
Night vets are seen as an integral part of the clinical team—not separate from it. Your input, decisions, and clinical judgement will be respected and supported.
The culture is collaborative, progressive, and built around the belief that the best patient care comes from vets who feel trusted, supported, and genuinely valued.
There is also a strong focus on progression. Whether you want to deepen your ECC skillset, pursue further qualifications, or step into a leadership pathway over time, you'll be supported in shaping a career that works for you.
What's on offer
Salary will be discussed at interview and is highly competitive, reflecting the importance of this role within the hospital.
You'll benefit from a structured, balanced rota, access to advanced facilities, and the chance to be part of a brand-new hospital from the very beginning.
Most importantly, you'll join a team where your contribution is recognised, your development is supported, and your wellbeing is taken seriously.
A Vetmatch perspective
At Vetmatch, we know that night roles suit vets who value autonomy, focus, and a different pace of work—but still want to feel part of a strong, supportive team.
This opportunity offers exactly that, within a modern, purpose-built hospital where standards are high, and people genuinely matter.
If you've been considering a move into a more rewarding and balanced night role, I'd love to talk you through this in more detail.
